Nordstjerne’s Statement of Condemnation Signed by Prime Minister Sigrid Bergman, Ratified by the Jernean Parliament, We, the Colony of Nordstjerne, do hereby condemn the Incorporated States of Promothea for their abolishment of all maritime protection laws. We uphold the fundamental right of an independent, autonomous nation-state to govern itself as it sees fit, including regulating its trade, hunting, and environment. However, international waters are legally governed collectively, as is tradition and practice. While Promothea may not recognize this territory as an international space, it should not be surprising to them that the violation of this practice will result in backlash from the international community. The preservation of maritime organisms, especially those listed as endangered or threatened, should be the paramount concern of the international community. It is therefore concerning that Promothea does not recognize the unalienable rights of living beings, as Nordstjerne and the Jacarian Realm do. Furthermore, it is the view of the Colony that the deregulation of maritime practices (such as commercial fishing, clamming, and hunting) unnecessarily endangers the lives of rare organisms and threatened species, whose numbers have already been dwindling rapidly from human involvement. Many of these organisms are critical to the stability of their ecosystems, and disturbances to their environments could prove dangerous to global stability. Henceforth, this government, representing its people and its allies, pledges to designate sections of our portions of the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Bothnia, the Danish Straits, and the North Sea as Maritime Protection Zones posthaste in an attempt to preserve these critical environments. In addition, the Colony hereby places an embargo on Promothean maritime goods and raises a 25% tariff on all imported Promothean goods. @Promothea

Preface

We of the Northern Domain of Nordstjerne would like to officially extend our hand in friendship towards your new republic and establish a mutual relationship that would benefit both of our nation’s tremendously.

Proposal

Recognizing that your government has recently refounded your republic from the tribal lands of Korea,

Acknowledging that the Federal Court has withheld previous aid due to incidents caused by major financiers of your government,

Does hereby overturn the Courts ruling and allow for humanitarian and financial aid to flow between our nations.

Furthermore, the Northern Domain would be willing to fund infrastructure development within Rilicon to restore the ancient lands of Korea to their former glory.

Of course, such a relationship would not be one-way. Nordstjerne would open its ports and airways to the Republic, and would promote commerce that would economically benefit both of us, especially given current reluctance from global traders in financing a fledgling republic such as yourself.

It is the duty of this government and our nation to promote freedom, prosperity, and to bring forth a new generation of duplomacy based on the writings and practices of Dr. Marton Williamsburg. Therefore, we view this bilateral economic relationship as a necessary one, and Rilicon’s credibility shall only do it good at the discussion table.

From the Office of the Prime Minister

To all valued members of the United Commonwealth,

I feel it necessary to speak on the topic of recent breaches of standard ethics and conduct within the international community, the most prominent of which regards the transaction between InCom and the state of Tejas.

As the highest diplomat in the land of Nordstjerne, it is both my own and my country’s duty to do all we can to maintain global stability and preserve our world for future generations. Acts of hostility against any body disrupts this balance, and is therefore looked down upon by our diplomatic corps.

The recent offer of military support from the Rilicon-based company InCom towards the state of Tejas without the knowledge nor consent of the United States federal government during a time such as the one they are currently facing is both irresponsible and reckless on InCom’s part and only serves to heighten tensions during what could only be described as trying times.

While this might not have been InCom’s goal when they initially offered the deal, it would certainly appear as though it were, especially from the standpoint of the Thessaran government.

We will stand by the United States in this matter as an unwavering ally and trade partner. InCom needs to stop viewing itself as a soveriegn nation, and instead focus on following standard protocol for dialogue between corporations and states. Nordstjerne’s communication channels will be open for discussion, and we hope to hear a more thorough response from InCom regarding the matter.

Statement of Solidarity in International Affairs

Issued by the Parliamentary Committee on Global Relations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In regard to the escalation of recent conflicts regarding prominent allies of this nation,

With the aforementioned conflicts affecting Jernean trade, global commerce, and international stability,

This committee, appointed by Parliament and the Prime Minister in order to issue the state’s response to these matters, does hereby clarify the following:

Nordstjerne will remain heavily committed to its bilateral relations with the United States of Thessara and the Kingdom of Javnia, as well as its unofficial relationship with EAST3 and its various programs. It both saddens and worries this committee that tensions continue to escalate internally within several of these parties.

As mentioned in previous statements, the federal government of Thessara will have the continued backing of Nordstjerne through sustained trade routes, military backing, and the Nordo-Thessaran Visitors’ Program for fast-tracked entry documents. It is the hope of the Northern Domain that the conflicts within Tejas ease soon and that life in the affected regions returns to normal.

With this in mind, there are several points of conflict between this government and the Thessaran government, the most prominent of which is its recent conformity policy. We shall state this once and only once: conformity is not unity. Suppression is not freedom. We hope that the Sterling administration learns from the conflict arising from this policy.

Given the history of cooperation between the Kingdom of Javnia and Nordstjerne, recent political developments are especially worrying for many, especially given the nature of these events. We find it necessary to warn the King of Javnia and his administration that the declaration of martial law and the arrest of elected officials are a line that should not be crossed lightly. Furthermore, we urge public trials for the arrested to take place, and for the investigation of the constitutional crisis to be made public. As is ingrained in the Jernean political structure, a government is only as strong as the public trust behind it. If arresting political figures without public-facing investigations becomes a precedent, it will only serve to erode this trust.

We do not reject Javnia’s government structure. Its uniqueness has obviously served its people well for generations. The Kingdom of Javnia will remain a key partner of Nordstjerne for as long as they may wish.

With these clarifications out of the way, this committee does hereby enact the following policy:

Loose Ends: Effective immediately, the following are hereby enacted:

The Full-Integration of Jernean embassies is officially revoked, as it unofficially has been for several months.
The Federal Sovereignty Stability Rating (SOVSTAR) is hereby set to Level 5 (baseline) until stated otherwise.
All tariffs on imported goods are hereby reset to 0% across the board to reflect original international trade deals.

New Policy: Effective immediately, the following are hereby enacted:

Humanitarian aid is to be offered worldwide to all nations willing to accept it in order to ease local burdens and promote safety and development.
Refugee status is to be expanded to include any individuals wishing to enter for expanded personal freedoms and economic opportunities.
New Germania (including the regions of Old Denmark, North Germany, Pomerania, and North Poland) is to be considered fully integrated and shall be divided into administrative districts based on local referenda. The region is to be considered a full part of Nordstjerne.

The Northern Domain of Nordstjerne confirms its attendance to the discussions proposed by Rilicon’s government, and accepts the topics brought up by the Kingdom of Javnia, should the nation end up hosting the event. We welcome the structure as a necessary one, especially given past events of similar caliber, and are excited to de-escalate global tensions in a diplomatic fashion.

As well as the topics proposed by Javnia, Nordstjerne would also like to bring up the following:

International infrastructure expansion
Border clarification/agreements
Expansion of long-term trade and economic agreements

We look forward to future multilateral discussions between Nordstjerne and the international community.

That on this day, the Northern Domain of Nordstjerne, full member of the Jacarian Realm and voting memmber on the Multiversal Parliament, and duly elected Senator of the United Commonwealth Senate does hereby acknowledge the resignation of the New Valdorian delegation from the position of the Senate President, more commonly referred as the Speaker, and does hereby acknowledge the elevation of the Northern Domain to the aforementioned position until such a time as a duly elected official may take over.

However, the acceptance of this proposal shall only be truly initiated after the confirmation of the resignation by the majority of the Senate and the Treasury Department. Until such a time as this occurs, the Northern Domain will not exercise its proposed powers.

Upon the completion of this stipulation, Nordstjerne shall coordinate with the remaining Commonwealth government to initiate elections in order to fill the Speaker’s role properly.

Democracy shall reign above all else.

Subject: Request and Motion for Immediate Acceptance of Resignation and Formal Recognition of Acting Senate President Nordstjerne

Honorable Senators,

I hereby respectfully request and move for the immediate acceptance of my resignation as Senate President of the United Commonwealth Senate.

As previously communicated, I am stepping down from the office in order to shift my primary focus toward my studies and other personal responsibilities. I believe that a formal and timely transition of leadership is necessary to ensure the Senate continues to operate smoothly and without unnecessary uncertainty.

Accordingly, I respectfully request that the Senate accept my resignation as soon as possible and formally recognize Nordstjerne as the Acting Senate President, effective upon the acceptance of my resignation.

MOTION

I therefore move that the United Commonwealth Senate:

Formally accept my resignation as Senate President;
Acknowledge the conclusion of my tenure as Senate President upon acceptance;
Formally recognize Nordstjerne as Acting Senate President immediately following my resignation; and
Record this transition in the official records of the Senate for the purposes of continuity and institutional clarity.

I respectfully ask the Senators to consider and act upon this motion as soon as possible so that the transition may be completed formally and without delay.

I thank the Senate and all Senators for the cooperation and support extended to me during my tenure. It has been an honor to serve as Senate President.
