NEWS TICKER UPDATE

UCSN

This feature is available and operational.

Hey everyone,

The forum header now automatically pulls news from discussions using the #Newsroom tag. The system checks the most recently active Newsroom topics, looks at the newest post inside each one, and extracts the actual story headline for the scrolling news ticker. This means the ticker is no longer updated manually and should reflect new national and international developments as they are posted.

Because of this, please format your national news posts with the story title first. Do not begin every article with the name of your newspaper, broadcaster, ministry, or national news service, because the system may interpret that as the headline.

For example, instead of:

THE PEOPLE’S PRESS
Government Announces New Reconstruction Programme

use:

Government Announces New Reconstruction Programme

You can still place THE PEOPLE’S PRESS, US DISPATCH, ZSIN, or another outlet name underneath the headline or elsewhere in the article. The important part is that the first clear heading in the post should be the actual title of the story.

Very useful:
THE UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES NEW AMBASSADORIAL APPOINTMENTS

Less useful:
US DISPATCH
THE UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES NEW AMBASSADORIAL APPOINTMENTS

The system will generally look for the first proper heading, bold title, or meaningful opening line. Keeping the story headline first will make sure your country’s latest news appears correctly in the global ticker and links readers directly to the relevant post.
