The Free States of Ivroyia

On Private Enterprise, Commercial Freedom, and Government Non-Interference

The government of the Free States of Ivroyia reaffirms its longstanding position that the activities of private citizens and private enterprises are, except where they directly threaten the security or functioning of the Free States, not the business of the national government.

Ivroyia was founded upon the principle that citizens are best positioned to determine how they work, trade, invest, negotiate, and pursue prosperity. The government does not exist to supervise every transaction, protect every business from poor judgment, or determine which private commercial practices foreign governments may consider acceptable. Ivroyian citizens and businesses retain broad freedom to earn income, establish enterprises, enter agreements, provide services, and pursue opportunities according to their own interests. The success or failure of those ventures belongs principally to the parties involved, not to the State.

The government, likewise, rejects the expectation that Ivroyian public institutions should dedicate national resources to resolving every commercial dispute involving foreign companies. Businesses choosing to engage with unfamiliar individuals, intermediaries, or enterprises bear responsibility for verifying those arrangements and protecting their own financial interests. Ivroyia does not regard the losses of a foreign corporation, standing alone, as a matter requiring intervention by the national government.

Where no Ivroyian public institution has been compromised, no national-security interest has been threatened, and no direct harm has been done to the functioning of the Free States, the government sees little justification for inserting itself into the private financial dealings of its citizens. Foreign governments remain free to regulate their own corporations as they see fit. The Free States of Ivroyia expects the same respect for its decision to maintain a limited governmental role in private commerce.

Prosperity is created by individuals willing to recognize opportunity and act upon it. Ivroyia has no intention of placing the State between its citizens and every opportunity from which they may profit.
