Issued by the State Department
Preamble
The United Commonwealth (UC) operates on the principles of mutual respect, active engagement, and shared prosperity. We welcome diplomatic relations with all sovereign regions that share our commitment to stability. To ensure our diplomatic channels remain active and productive, I encourage everyone to take part in this process, provided they adhere to the following protocols.
I. Requirements for Establishment
We do not place strict population caps on our diplomatic partners; what matters to us is that your region has an active, participating community. To establish formal diplomatic relations and open an embassy with the UC, you must follow this exact sequence:
Step 1: Forum Application. You must first submit a formal embassy application on our regional forum. Please follow this link here
Step 2: Review and Approval. Wait for the UC regional officers to discuss and officially approve your application on the forum.
Step 3: In-Game Request. Only after your forum application has been approved may you send the formal in-game embassy request on NationStates.
Strict Rejection Policy: If you apply for an in-game embassy without first submitting an application on our forum and notifying a relevant regional officer, your in-game request will be immediately rejected.
II. Maintenance and Active Participation
The UC encourages everyone to take part in active diplomacy rather than letting channels go silent. Therefore:
- Ambassadors are required to provide a regional update, cultural exchange, or diplomatic greeting at least once every 45 days.
- Embassies that remain inactive for more than 60 days will be marked as dormant and may be moved to an archive to keep diplomatic channels organized.
III. Grounds for Rejection or Closure
The United Commonwealth reserves the right to reject an embassy application or immediately close an existing embassy if the foreign region:
- Engages in unprovoked raiding, espionage, or subversion against the UC or its recognized allies.
- Harbors griefers or violates standard NationStates site rules.
- Fails to maintain a respectful and diplomatic tone in official communications.
- Read the Embassy Post Guidelines here
