Alderoux, officially the Confederacy of Alderoux and also known as the Alderoux Confederacy, is a country located in the northern part of the Americas. It shares a southern border with the United States of Thessara and a maritime eastern border with Inmoria. Alderoux is one of the largest countries in the world by land area and is historically known by the epithet “the land from sea to sea”. Despite its vast size, it has a relatively low population of approximately 157 million inhabitants, who are collectively referred to as Alderian.
The confederation consists of seven cantons. The canton of Ellsworth and its eponymous city, which serves as the nation’s capital, serve as the administrative center and hosts the seat of the federal government. Alderoux is organized as a directorial republic, in which executive authority is vested in a Chancellor who serves as both head of state and head of government. The country’s constitution establishes a clear separation of powers between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
Alderoux is widely recognized for its long-standing policy of armed neutrality, its strong constitutional secularism, and major elements of direct democracy. These factors have contributed to its prominence as a host for international organizations and financial institutions. Due to its neutrality, political stability, and strong financial sector, Alderoux plays an influential role in global diplomacy and international economics despite its comparatively small population density relative to its territory.
